Polls are a good thing. You should have one on your website. Online polls and surveys help give you a looksee into the thinking and rationale of those who respond. Even a small rectangular box with three possible answers on the right sidebar is a fairly reasonable solution to what you now have.

Polls are simple to make and operate. And they’re getting better with each passing day. There are a number of companies that offer free polls online and offline. If you use WordPress, PollDaddy makes a customizable plug-in for WordPress. The plugin called WP-Polls is also a reasonable plugin to have up and running. Right now there are no clear leaders in the online poll software game.

However, and this is perhaps not the right forum to bring this up but, I’m finding that while all the bloggers say that the WP-Poll for WordPress is extremely easy to customize, I’m not seeing that. Easy for me is a document in Word. You want bold, you get bold. You want underline and doublespace, it’s fairly straightforward. Perhaps I’m missing some widget that makes all of that happen, but I just don’t see it yet.

Also on the online poll arena is Ilovepolls.com, Snappolls.com, and Misterpoll.com are three different online polls. Vizu makes a very good poll and poll generator, though it’s difficult to find out exactly how much their professional version really costs. Punch in “online poll” on Google and you’ll come up with over two million hits for that term alone! Wander through the first few pages, and you’ll find the perfect poll for you and your site. You don’t have to go far. After 500,000 or more, you’ll wish you never heard that word “poll” before.

Many polls are free. They are easy to install and maintain on your website. Did I mention free? As most of you do, I too like free. Free is underrated as far as I’m concerned. The internet is a fantastic place to find free. There are professional polls on the market. They’re not as easy to find as the free polls. Even so, they are fairly reasonably priced.

The beauty of it all is that polls are everywhere! Politicians live by polls. As I mentioned 2.1 million hits later and you’ll find a poll that’s right. You’ll find one long before you go through ten pages of websites.

As the internet grows larger, polls are becoming more and more popular. For zero cash outlay, you can’t beat free, everywhere, and simple.
